5 Steps to Grow Your Social Media Presence to Benefit Your Business

The thought of starting a business can be extremely daunting, especially when we live in a technical age where everything is accessible with a touch of your finger.

But don’t worry, with 244 million people using social media you are bound to catch someone’s eye with the right material and real authenticity.

If you are struggling or just starting out, I have some easy and helpful tips that can help your brand grow organically on social media platforms.

1.) First things first, ENGAGE. WITH. YOUR. AUDIENCE.

It’s simple but a lot of brands fall short in this department. Whether you have a customer asking if a shirt is true to size or if you have a customer suggesting that you change something to make the process easier, you must engage and listen to them. After all, they are the people who grow your brand. Over time, you will learn what your audience wants from your brand which in return will help you create better content and keep them coming back.

Speak directly to your audience. For example, if your audience is a stay-at-home mom who works a part time job, enjoys her daily glass of Cabernet or two after putting her three kids to bed, then that is who you need to relate to.

2.) Stand out.

When a customer is scrolling through their feed and stumbles upon your new post, the ultimate goal for that post is for them to stop and interact. You have to create content that is very specific to your brand. “But Hailee how do I stand out when I am competing with such a large market?”

It’s simple. When creating your brand, you need to stick with a certain theme. That theme needs to be portrayed in your logo, fonts, color palette, and brand elements. While the overall look to a company is important, it’s important to know that the brand personality is just as important. When you are interacting with customers in a caption, in a direct message, email or through a live broadcast, it’s so important to keep the same brand tone.

3.) Be Authentic.

Whether you are building a fitness brand or a clothing brand, always stay true to you. Tell your own story and include how your story correlates with your brand. Don’t be afraid to put it all out there. Share the successes of your brand and also the failures (don’t forget to include what knowledge you gained from those failures).

4.) Social Recruiting.

If you are a small brand, this could be as simple as collaborating with someone who aligns with your brand. If you own a full scale business where you have a few employees, use that to your advantage. You can have your employees engage in certain marketing campaigns on your social media outlets. When you introduce your “audience” or “consumer” to an employee, they typically consider those people more relatable and make the brand feel a little more comfortable.

5.) Gratitude & Empathy.

I believe these two go hand in hand. When you have empathy you are able to better connect with a person while being able to inspire them as well. Showing gratitude, whether that be in the form of thanking your audience with a sale or writing down things you’re grateful for every so often, genuinely makes you a better marketer. Sometimes you have to take a step back and realize why you are where you are and who got you there.
