WE’RE BRINGING YOU ANOTHER ADDITION TO OUR NEWEST SERIES, OBL HOME TOURS! THIS MONTH IT’S THE TEAHEN FAMILY. MARK AND LAUREN TEAHEN LIVE IN SCOTTSDALE, ARIZONA AND THEIR HOME WAS CUSTOM DESIGNED TO THEIR IMPECCABLE TASTE WITH A FEW MAIN FEATURES WE ARE SURE YOU’VE NEVER SEEN BEFORE. AND TRUST US, YOU’LL WANT AT LEAST ONE OF THEM TOO AFTER SEEING IT. HERE IS THEIR INTERVIEW!

1. WHAT INSPIRED YOUR HOME DECOR?

We really like a rustic industrial look because it’s somewhat timeless. Our post-baseball business, Sorso Wine Room, has a similar look. After we designed that space back in 2014, we knew we wanted to build a home with the same feel.

2. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE SPACE IN YOUR HOME?

Our kitchen is definitely the best space in the home. It’s a large, open-concept where all five of us can gather. We opted for a countertop garage door rather than a window so we are able to have an indoor/outdoor feel while eating. It’s also where everyone tends to congregate when we entertain. It’s just a very comfortable space for everyone to enjoy.

3. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE FURNITURE PIECE OR DESIGN ELEMENT?

At the risk of sounding like an alcoholic, our Wine Emotion dispenser is my favorite piece in our home. Not only does it have an industrial look and is the focal point of the home, but it allows us to have four different wines on tap at all times.

4. WHAT IS SOMETHING UNIQUE ABOUT YOUR HOME THAT MAKES IT ONE OF A KIND?

I think all of the unique finishes from the metal, wood tones, brick walls in the kitchen and personal touches in the design are what make this home one of a kind.

5. YOU’VE RECENTLY SOLD THE HOME AND ARE BUILDING AGAIN! WHAT PART OF DESIGNING YOUR NEW HOME ARE YOU MOST EXCITING ABOUT?

I think we are most excited about being able to create another unique space that perfectly fits our family. Most people dread building a home but for us, it’s an exciting project where we are able to express our creativity.

WE CAUGHT UP THE WITH THE TEAHEN’S REALTORS, DANIEL WILLIAMS & THUY PHAM OF THE WILLIAMS REAL ESTATE GROUP TO CHAT WITH THEM ABOUT THE INS AND OUTS OF SELLING REAL ESTATE IN THE VALLEY.

WHAT MAKES YOU DIFFERENT FROM OTHER AGENTS OUT THERE?

We work with a core group of clients and by referrals only. We don't advertise. We typically only service a small portion of the valley so we can provide the highest level of service to our clients. We want it to be about quality and not quantity. We aren't the typical realtors that are just helping a client to buy and sell a home. We offer a lot more and can help with referrals and recommendations from moving companies, organizers, home maintenance, home upgrades etc. We don't charge anything additional and everyone we refer or recommend are competitive in pricing. Just because the client purchased or sold a $4 million dollar home that doesn't mean they should pay more for services.

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BOTH BEEN IN REAL ESTATE?

I got my real estate license at 19 so I have had my license for 19 years. Dan has had his license going on 17 years now. Dan use to play baseball and was actually drafted by the Royals but after a career ending injury, he had to find a different career. So with his contacts and friends that went on to play professionally, we were introduced to the Teahen’s 10 years ago and the rest is history I guess.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PART ABOUT WHAT YOU DO?

Williams Real Estate Group has been fortunate enough to have donated over $500,000 to local causes through real estate. In baseball there can be a lot of flash, but there are also a lot of great people who use their influence for good, and we are fortunate enough to be able to work with many of them finding their dream home or selling.
