Working part-time works best for me to balance my/our life – it allows me to manage my career, our almost-one-year-old, and all the family logistics that go into a baseball family’s life. Because let’s be real, being team captain of family logistics is a job in and of itself in the baseball world!

Starting my own business gave us choices and freedom to make those choices with confidence. Regardless of his baseball career, I have this business to fall back on. I don't have the stress of a boss telling me when I can be with my partner. I get to be insanely proud of him every day, and I get to be insanely proud of myself every day.

It also feels nice to contribute and it gives me something to do. Baseball can be lonely sometimes when they’re on a road trip and you’re not with them. So instead of binging Netflix all day, I get to have fun, feel productive and make money! Talk about a win!

Nick and I are in the middle of planning a wedding, which can be extremely pricy. This job has helped pay for just about everything with the wedding that my family isn’t covering and it’s been a true blessing. It will be nice once the wedding is over and all my extra income can go into savings or if baseball throws us a curveball, we still have my income to get us through.

Stop scrolling through Instagram and convincing yourself that other women have it better. Stop believing that you aren’t good enough or that you can’t do what you want because of your husband’s career. Make a long term goal and every day that you can’t get to that goal because of situational reasons – work on a short term goal to keep you on track. Bloom where you are planted.

In the nearly two years I have been out of college and working, I have grown so much from my career. I’ve become that much more confident and self-assured. I feel good about the work I am doing each day, and I also know that I am good at it. That independence and my own self-identity has been critical in my sanity throughout this crazy baseball life. One of the reasons Kyri fell in love with me was because of my ambition, just as I fell in love with his passion for baseball. Despite being so far away, we are each other’s biggest fans. I try to watch or listen to all of his games, and he calls on my way home every day so that I can tell him what I had been working on.

We aren’t crazy women out here all alone following our men around. We have made a commitment to someone who has a unique lifestyle. That lifestyle has molded us into extremely adaptable people, put grit in our spirit and strengthened our faith.

My name is Morgan Urtso and I’m a digital artist and web designer. I own Butter Sites, LLC., and I work full-time as the graphic designer for Flight Operations at Southwest Airlines in Dallas.

I have learned that being a support system has nothing to do with proximity and has everything to do with patience, understanding, and unconditional love. We both know how it feels to be in high-stakes situations and how difficult it may be at times to overcome obstacles. My career experiences have helped me to understand some of the hardships he faces, and vice versa. We are incredibly supportive of each other and want nothing more than to see the other succeed.

Starting my own business has had a life-changing impact on our personal relationship. It’s given me the freedom to physically be with Robby and experience baseball life first hand and not via FaceTime. To be frank, it also gives me a purpose. I cannot image being consumed in the sports world without something of my own

It also taught me so much about myself—my strengths and weaknesses, it boosted my self-confidence, and helped me grow in so many ways.
