Tell us who you are, how you got into the baseball world, and a little bit about you and your other half.

Hey ya’ll! Chelsea Scott here! I’m a shower singer and Scorpio to the T. Besides “content creator” my roles are split between being a daughter, a loving sister, a loyal friend and a blushing newlywed. I met my husband, Robby Scott, in the high-school hallways and we have been on quite the adventure together. Robby is a left handed reliever for the Boston Red Sox and I know it may sound incredibly cliché but I truly get goosebumps every time he stands on the mound. After five years of fighting his way through the minor league system he was called up to The Show on September 1, 2016. After an engagement, a big life discussion and a lot of packing, I moved to Boston from California in May of 2017.

Tell us about your business, what do you do, and how long you’ve been werkin’ it.

I am the face behind a lifestyle blog – The Millennial Miss. The Millennial Miss is dedicated to the evolving woman. This inclusive community has a ‘come as you are’ kind of vibe. With each post we will break down all of life’s relationships and advice, not just relationship advice. As topics shift, the spotlight will remain on the relationship with yourself – the foundation of it all. Together, we will fearlessly navigate through the ups and downs of this crazy thing called life. TMM is a single source destination of inspirational yet relatable content.

I launched The Millennial Miss in December of 2014 and haven’t looked back since. I am whole heartedly excited to bring my platform to life, every single day, and am excited to share all of life’s moments with you.

What inspired you/how did you get started?

I, for as long as I can remember, have poured my feelings and experience onto a piece of paper. I am so infatuated by the trials and tribulations of life and how, at some point, we all experience them.

One morning I woke up and told myself that I had nothing to lose and I was going to go for it. Cut to the birth of The Millennial Miss.

Was your success immediate or did it take time?

I have an incredible amount of hustle and heart in my bones that I would categorize my success as ongoing. I have big plans for The Millennial Miss brand and I won’t stop until those goals are a reality.

What obstacles have you faced and how did you persevere in the hard times?

When building a business from the ground up you are bound to run into all types of obstacles, even obstacles you didn’t know existed. I’m a true believer that perspective is everything so I’ve taken each speed bump as a learning experience.

When having a platform that is driven via social media it is my job to not only stay in the know but strive to be one step ahead. I spend countless hours scrolling through Instagram, researching other bloggers, reading comments, etc. and to be completely honest – it can become a dark hole. I've sat in front of my computer wondering why I’m not "good" enough to secure this partnership or that collaboration, why my business hasn’t yet landed me a lavish trip to Paris or even worse has had me question if I will ever reach my finish line. Online comparison can be an ugly obstacle if YOU allow it. If you too have trouble with social media comparison THIS is how I overcome it.

How do you balance running a business and living the baseball life?

Well, I’ll let you know when I have the answer to this question ;) In my opinion, balance, is a key factor that many of us are trying to maintain 365 days a year. For me, balance comes in the form of knowing when to close my laptop or put my phone down. During the season, balance comes in the form of time-management and determination to get my work done the night before so Robby and I can enjoy an uninterrupted breakfast together before he heads to the field.

How did starting your own business impact your life personally, and for the two of you?

Starting my own business has had a life-changing impact on our personal relationship. It’s given me the freedom to physically be with Robby and experience baseball life first hand and not via FaceTime. To be frank, it also gives me a purpose. I cannot image being consumed in the sports world without something of my own. Without a job, I would be swallowed up whole and not be the happy, passionate, supportive person that I am.

What’s a typical workday like for you?

More times than not I am holed up in a coffee shop with my headphones in, writing for hours and working on getting my inbox to 0. Other days I am running from a meeting to a photo shoot to an event. The beauty in being my own boss is that I create my own schedule which is a massive advantage with all the traveling we do during the season.

What are you currently working on and what’s next for your business?

2018 is going to be a year of massive growth and exciting projects for TMM. You’ll have to follow along to see exactly what I’m talking about!

What are you currently working on and what’s next for your business?

What advice do you have for other WAGs who hope to start a business?

My advice would be to do it. Get up, clear your desk, throw your hair in a messy bun and just start.

When I hit published on TMM I was terrified. My palms were sweaty and my stomach was in a massive knot I am forever proud of myself for doing so because my life wouldn’t be the same without it. It’s scary but do you know what else is scary? Looking back in 20 years with regret for not doing the things you dreamed of because you felt scared of failure, change or people’s opinions.

What’s one thing you wish EVERYONE knew about being a WAG/baseball life?

I don’t even know how to begin to answer this question. To be honest, a huge weight was lifted off of my shoulders the moment I become “ok with” the fact that not everyone is going to truly understand the in’s and out’s of the baseball world. It’s just the way it is. There is this perception that we all live the dream and every day is surrounded by rainbows and sunshine and dripping with perks. Yes, this lifestyle comes with once in a life-time opportunities however, it also comes with massive sacrifice. There is so much more to this life then they show on ESPN.

Where can we find you online / how can we keep up with you?

I would absolutely love to connect with each and every one with you! Come say hey on IG: @millennialmiss and dive into inspirational yet relatable content head to www.themillennialmiss.com
