You Belong

I’ve been in professional baseball for a long time. My entire adult life has been spent in this community, and the only time it has let me down is when I allowed someone else to make me feel small.

If you’ve been in baseball for a few minutes, you’ve probably experienced a time where you wondered if you belong.

I’m here to tell you, you do. You belong here.

Maybe you’re 22 and trying to figure out how to see your man when you can’t afford a plane ticket.

Maybe you’re 32 and wondering if anyone actually likes you or if they just want to be around you because of your famous husband.

Maybe your man was released and now everyone who was there for you is gone, poof, and you’re wondering who has your back now.

We do. We’re here for you. All of you.

Whatever your "label" and whatever your "status" you are welcome.

The world wants to label us, categorize us, stack us up, but there is no hierarchy here.

This is Our Baseball Life, and we’re in this together.

You’re only overlooked, rejected, and ignored by the people not meant to be in your life. Let go in peace, look ahead in gratitude.
