Madison Wright, RDN, ACSM-CPT

My name is Madison, but my friends and family call me Madz! My roots are in Cary, NC but I now call Sarasota, FL “home”. I completed my undergraduate studies at East Carolina University (ECU), earning B.S. degrees in Exercise Physiology and Nutrition Science with a minor in Sport Studies. *This is also where I met my husband, Mike Wright, who is a right-handed pitcher and my connection to the baseball scene!* I then attended the University of Florida to earn a Master's Degree in Nutrition Science and complete a Dietetic Internship. I graduated from UF on August 5th, 2017 and officially became a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) on September 16th, 2017.

As a high-energy individual, my whole life has been full of activity. Growing up I "played" jumprope, swimming, cheerleading and track (okay, so you don’t actually “play” any of these, but you get the idea). Weightlifting was introduced to me as a junior in high school when I decided that Spanish III was going to be a nightmare. I dropped Spanish in exchange for a weightlifting course that forever changed my life!

My love for weightlifting led me to compete in 3 Bodybuilding shows. This first-hand experience with the great impact dietary habits can have on body composition and physical performance led me to pursue a career in nutrition, as I aim to open the eyes of those around me to this critical component of total wellness.

My personal and professional experiences related to personal training are as follows:

  • ACSM Certified Personal Trainer (2013 to present)

  • Alter Ego Fitness (May 2016 - August 2017)

  • Excel Fitness and Tanning (January 2014 – May 2015)

  • Dryland strength and conditioning coach for youth swim team (Sept. 2014 – May 2015)

  • Athletic Strength & Conditioning volunteer in ECU’s Murphy Center (Sept. 2014-May 2015)

  • Bodybuilding Bikini Competitor (1 NPC show, 2 ANBF shows)

In 2018, I formally started my own online business: Muscles by Madz, LLC. This venture allows me to better the lives of people all over the country by way of enhanced fitness and food habits, while maintaining the flexibility to support my husband wherever this crazy, beautiful, baseball life leads us. My mission is to educate motivated individuals on the science behind effective exercise and nourishing dietary habits, while offering wellness programs to help people develop and sustain lifelong habits for optimal health.

I so enjoy sharing my passion for wellness with others, and I look forward to doing so with each of you through The Family Room platform!

Stephanie Veal Stephanie Veal

Stephanie Veal

My name is Stephanie Veal and I’m married to, now retired baseball player turned professional scout, Donnie Veal. In a nutshell, I am a type A, number crunching, critical thinker. Since elementary school I have been in love with the subject of math. Odd, I know. I was born and raised in Arizona and attended high school with my now husband. No, we were not high school sweethearts but ran in the same social circle in our small town of Sierra Vista.

I graduated high school a year and a half early and joined the United States Air Force at the age of 17. Ironically, I requested all overseas locations and was stationed at Luke Air Force Base, just outside of Phoenix, Arizona. I suffer from crippling migraines and was medically retired from the Air Force. After I left the military, I joined my husband in the luxurious lifestyle of minor leagues. Through his twelve-year career we were making anywhere from $12,000 annually to major league minimum topped with winter ball contracts.

Oh, we decided let’s add to our chaos and have three kids while we move a grand total of 34 times and top it with a Tommy John surgery. Baseball lifestyle can be a blessing and at times feel like a curse. The curse usually comes in the form of the financial pinch of minor league life. As we left baseball, I furthered my education and have attained my Master’s in Business Administration. I’ve managed small companies and recently just joined the ranks of corporate America. . . in the financial world, of course. I look forward to sharing with you all on how we’ve gone from being at the mercy of dollar to how we use our finances with intention.

Former Division 1 college athlete, current baseball wife, full-time personal trainer (online and in-person) and business owner. Her husband was drafted by the Cleveland Indians in 2014 and spent his last two years in AAA with the Columbus Clippers.

She knows first-hand how crazy the baseball lifestyle can be and how difficult it is to reach your own health and fitness goals at the same time. That is why she decided to start her own business that offers online personal training with daily customized workouts for women all over--no matter what equipment you have access to or how crazy your schedule may be during the season or off season.

Whether you travel with your husband/BF or not, she can make daily workouts for you on the road, in hotel gyms, full gyms, home workouts, quick bodyweight circuits, or anything that works with your schedule. She wanted to be an accessible personal trainer who could make fitness work for anyone, anywhere.

She finds it incredibly rewarding to help people feel good in their own skin, especially other WAGs in this community, and she is thrilled to meet so many new women in the baseball world through her passion for health and fitness.

Bryant Meyer Bryant Meyer

Bryant Meyer

Hi, my name is Bryant Meyer. I have been fortunate enough to be in the professional baseball world since 2003 with my then boyfriend and now husband of 10 years, Dan. My husband pitched for ten years between minor league and major league baseball and then retired on the day our first son was born. He has been a pitching coach with the Braves 6 years now since retiring. We have 3 beautiful children, 7, 4 and 7 weeks. They weren’t able to see their daddy play but certainly have been fortunate enough to be my professional travel buddies and still experience this crazy baseball life with my husband coaching.

I finished my advanced masters in physician assistant studies in 2009, we got married and then I took a year off to travel with Dan and enjoy married life.

I love my job and being in medicine, and I have continued to work part time as a physician assistant in a sport and spine center. We made the decision for me to stop traveling once our daughter was born and we moved back to my home state CT to be close to my family for extra help. We make several trips a year still but continue to make our crazy life work for us long distance 7 months of the year with the support of family, baseball friends and the support of communities like Our Baseball Life!!

Life had other plans when in walked (via Tinder ;) ) her future-partner... the Australian Baseball Player. That is when life got truly exciting. After a few bouts of long-distance, Australia to the USA, and juggling the life of school and employment with the life of an independent baseball player, she decided to sell all her belongings and move to Japan while he played independent ball there. The business became a way to support their dreams and feel a sense of pride and independence along the way. Now she helps other small businesses launch by providing branding and web design. Tracy Hayes Tracy Hayes

Tracy Hayes

Meet Tracy Hayes, our Yoga, Pilates, + Mobility expert contributor!

I’m so happy to be a part of Our Baseball Life’s amazing baseball family and am grateful for the opportunity to help others feel and move stronger.

I’ve been in the fitness industry for over 20 years, working specifically with athletes for nearly 15 yrs when I stumbled into professional baseball because of my husband’s career. We were with the Royals up until 2010 (I think!) and this is where I was first to introduce yoga to the team during spring training.

Over the years, I’ve fine-tuned specialized classes aiming to improve kinematic sequencing through neuromuscular training designed to improve pro athletes' mobility.

My “signature class” combines the foundations of physical therapy-based functional yoga (LYT), classical Pilates, Functional Range Conditioning methodologies, Postural Restoration Institute teachings, positive mindset language, visualizations, and breathing techniques.

In these classes, we focus on building up from developmental sequences to improving active end-range strength, proprioception and balance, proper positioning for efficient diaphragmatic breathing, and an overall advancement in better mobility. My approach to teaching is a synergistic combination concentrating on the biomechanics of muscles working more efficiently to help players improve explosive movements, power, and swinging/pitching motions.

This is all fancy language for balancing inefficiencies and improving poor movement patterns to help someone move better, feel better and excel in performance. My classes aren’t quite the type of yoga like you’d see in a studio, in my opinion, not everything you see in a traditional yoga class is appropriate for pro-baseball players.

I’ve got a host of certifications ranging from 700 hours of specialized functional yoga training to a FRC Mobility Specialist certification, Kinstretch, Pilates (I published a Pilates manual!), functional training, and too many more to list. I love what I do and am always learning.

Oh and more about me - and most importantly, I’m a mama to 4 little kiddos! I am one of those “hot-mess” moms, totally going out un-showered, late to everything, and brain working on little to no sleep - I figure I’ll just fake it ’til I make it as a mom and hope to God everyone is alive at the end of the day. :)

If you’ve got any mobility or yoga questions or are interested in hearing about programs for athletes, shoot me a message on one of these places:
