How to Travel with a Puppy

I will never forget the moment Nick and I decided enough was enough. It was a month before spring training started and we were sitting on the floor of our brand new apartment. We had just gotten married and had everything set up in a place we could finally call home; but the thought of being apart for another season was unbearable.

We looked at each other after hours of sitting on the floor weighing the pros and cons of quitting my job to travel and cried the happiest of tears when we finally said the words, “Let’s do this.”

There was someone else in the room that night that would also be apart of this journey...we call her Scout.

At the time, Scout was a 3 month old puppy. We didn’t think it was the best timing when we got her, but there was something in our hearts that couldn’t leave this sweet girl behind. A month later, when we decided to travel, we learned she is one of the biggest blessings we have received to date.

When we got Scout I had no idea how much she would help me. The long drives, the nights alone in unknown cities, a companion during the day and the best snuggles a Momma could ask for at night. I can honestly say I couldn’t do all of this without my best friend.

She is 9 months old and has been to 7 states. If you look at my social media you can’t miss her, she goes everywhere with me!

I get asked almost daily how I make traveling with a (big) puppy work, so I made a "day in the life" video that shows exactly what traveling with her looks like.

Traveling with a dog has many challenges but I think this lifestyle is challenging no matter what. Being able to have my bud with me everywhere I go is so worth it!
