Fashion Friday - Event Style
The season is in full swing and that means not only are you probably attending or watching a game on the daily, you may be gearing up for a few charity events, team dinners, or black tie galas. I pulled a few go-to pieces and a couple of fun ideas that I think are great options for these dressier events that might be on your calendar during the busy baseball season.
Everyone should own a good pair of black dress pants. I love the crop on these (I’m short) that make them slightly more casual than a full length pant and easily able to be really dressed up or more dressed down for an outdoor summer event. These go with everything including a good blazer, a frilly blouse, or a classic button down for a comfortable but classy event outfit.
Ok. I am a FAN of a jumpsuit! I wish this was more of a trend when my husband was playing and I had more events to attend. This striped one from Goodnight Macaroon is so summery and light with the stripes but still tailored enough to wear to a dressier charity event or team dinner. A pair of nude pumps and a white blazer would take this jumpsuit to another level. Or some flat sandals and a straw bag as shown here for a casual but put together day look.
Another classic must-have is a good blazer. I love the length and simplicity of this white one from Loft. This can dress up any outfit from pants to dresses for an event or be worn with jeans for a casual situation.
The LBD. We all probably have one in our closet but I love this one from Bloomingdale's. I always appreciate a covered shoulder when I’m not feeling super excited about showing a lot of skin if the event feels more formal. And the eyelet detail and tiered skirt is such a cute update on the plain black dress.
Basic tanks go with everything. This satin one from Forever 21 is so cheap you could buy it in every color. Worn under a blazer with jeans or those cropped trousers makes for an easy outfit for most baseball season occasions. Easy is necessary for me.
If you’re looking for more color and a summery take on the cocktail dress this one is so good.
Love this for a more formal gala event.
Jumpsuits are in and I am here for it! I am so glad to see more options for dressier events that aren’t dresses! This black jumpsuit is the perfect alternative to a dress but definitely classy and elegant enough that you won’t feel like you are wearing your husband’s suit to the event. I usually stay in my comfort zone with black, white and gray but how fun would this be in a bold, bright color for a Dinner on the Diamond?
Color scares me sometimes but on my feet I am a little more brave. I find myself always buying neutrals in shoes for daily life but for an event I feel like it’s totally worth it to get a bright color or a printed shoe. Especially if you stick more neutral on top. Love the block heel and the colors in these ones from Aldo.
Ok, so we’ve covered the outfit and the shoes, now you have to accessorize. Nothing says dressed up more than a statement necklace. This would be a place to save your money and buy more inexpensive pieces because you probably aren’t wearing this everyday to the game with your ball cap and cut offs. Or maybe you are because you are far more ambitious with your gameday style than I am (#kidsstealyourstyle) I also love all of the earring trends happening right now. These could actually go from dressy event to the game. How cute with a plain white tee, denim shorts and these woven tassel earring from Francescas.
